Choose the Right Parking Spot
The first step to successful parking is selecting an appropriate parking spot. Look for a space that is at least one and a half times the length of your vehicle. Ensure there is enough clearance in front and behind the spot, and check for any parking restrictions or signs.
Use Your Mirrors
Before you begin the parking maneuver, adjust your side mirrors to get a clear view of the area around your vehicle. Properly adjusted mirrors will help you see any obstacles and other vehicles, making the parking process safer.
Approach the Spot
Pull up alongside the car in front of the parking space, leaving about two feet of clearance. Make sure your vehicle is parallel to the car in front, with both vehicles’ side mirrors roughly aligned.

As you back up, keep a close watch on the curb. When your vehicle’s rear wheel is about 6-12 inches from the curb, turn your steering wheel fully to the left to bring the front of your vehicle in line with the curb.
Final Adjustments
Continue to reverse slowly, making small adjustments as necessary to ensure your vehicle is evenly spaced within the parking space. Use your mirrors and check your blind spots to avoid any collisions.
