Not far from the Arkansas border is the small town of Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Some small towns get a reputation of having not a lot to do, but here, there are great places to hear live music. Here are five of the best music venues in the area.

 

1: Back 40 Bar and Grill

Located conveniently in town, you’ll find Back 40 Bar and Grill at the Cherokee Casino. Every weekend, this space is offering live music to patrons. Most of their performances start at eight o’clock in the evening, allowing you to grab a bite to eat before the performance. 2: Temple Live

A little over twenty-five miles from town is Temple Live in Fort Smith, Arkansas. This venue has a history of providing a unique atmosphere to patrons back during prohibition. As a midsized venue, there is room for up to 1,100 guests at a time. Performances are held here starting on Thursday and running through until Sunday. You’ll find musicians performing acoustic, country, and rock sets here. This place offers an unforgettable musical experience.

3: Shooter’s Bar and Grill

If you’re looking for a smaller space to listen to live music, check out Shooter’s in Fort Smith. This dive bar allows you to kick back with a drink and play pool, all while listening to the musical stylings of whoever is playing. This casual space is perfect for hanging out with friends while having the best of both worlds; conversation and live music. You can grab a bite to eat and enjoy different local musicians spread their love for music.

4: Choctaw Casino

On the Oklahoma side of the Arkansas and Oklahoma border is the Choctaw Casino. Multiple restaurants on the casino’s property offer live music throughout the week. If you’re looking for notable performances by famous artists, you’ll want to spend an evening here one day. Famous country and alternative artists have graced this venue with their presence. Carrie Underwood and Daughtry have performed here, to name a few.

5: Muskogee Brewing Company

A little further from town is the Muskogee Brewing Company. Even though this is almost an hour away if you’re looking for great live music and great beer, you’ll want to try this spot. You can sample a few of their fifteen locally brewed beers while enjoying live music every Friday and Saturday night. Muskogee Brewing is a great place to hear music from local artists you may not have heard of before.
