Ruger’s Grill

Ruger’s offers it all, and seafood is part of “all”. The atmosphere keeps people coming back, and it’s worth a trip to stop in here. Their fried fish plate is one of the best you’ll ever eat. Or, get shrimp grilled or fried, with delicious toast, a baked potato, or other sides.

Of course, Ruger’s also offers some of the best pancakes in town and some other dishes for those who don’t like seafood. Those who don’t enjoy surf can have the amazing chicken fried steak, burgers, or steaks grilled to perfection. You’ll also love the service here: they get to know you, and if you’re a return customer, they’ll remember your preferences pretty quickly.

Shad’s Catfish Hole

For Southern-style seafood, this is the place to go. This is a family-style place you’ll love to return to over and over. The staff are friendly, the food is delicious, and the menu is right up on the wall. Whatever you order, be sure to get the hush puppies and coleslaw with it. The prices here are very reasonable, too.

Try their frog legs if you’ve never had any, and the catfish is the best in the state. Their shrimp is also outstanding. We also love their beans with any entree. And if you have young (and hungry) ones with you, be sure to try the all-you-can-eat fish or shrimp. Their tomato relish–a classic they make in-house–goes well with everything.

See’s Seafood

See’s Seafood is a market, but it’s also a restaurant. Everything here is fresh off the boat, and they take good care of you. This is the perfect place to stop in for lunch, but be aware that they are closed Sunday through Tuesday.

Pick up seafood to make your own meal, grab one of their pre-made seafood boils, or enjoy an amazing lunch of clam strips, calamari, and more. The shrimp here is particularly great, and the Friday fish and shrimp basket should not be missed.

Fresh Start Seafood

Fresh Start will cater your event, and they have a wonderful food truck. When we visit, we want one of their sandwiches: a shrimp, catfish, or oyster po’ boy, catfish fillets on toast, or whiting. For dinner, try their amazing catfish nuggets or the alligator tails.

They also offer baskets and platters, and they even have eggrolls! (Try the mac and cheese egg rolls). For those who don’t enjoy seafood, there are great wings and plenty of chicken strip options. Don’t miss the cajun corn on the cob, the fried okra, and the jambalaya. For dessert, we have to recommend their pineapple peach cobbler.
