L or LX: Which Chrysler Voyager Is the One for You?

Interior Comparison

The Chrysler Voyager L and LX trim levels provide ample interior, head, leg, and hip room. Both models include the versatile third-row Stow N’ Go 60/40 bench seat, cloth upholstery, power locks and windows, push-button start, sliding door alert, and active noise cancellation. The L and LX boast impressive cargo capacities of 32.3 cubic feet behind third-row, 87.5 cubic feet behind second-row, and 140.5 cubic feet behind the first-row seats.

The Voyager L offers manual climate control, a second-row bench seat, and a six-way manual-adjustable driver seat. On the other hand, the Voyager LX features sliding captain’s chairs in the second row, allowing easy access to the third-row seats. An eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat is also standard on the LX. The exterior of the Voyager models varies slightly. The L and LX are equipped with all-season tires and 17-inch wheels. Also, the L includes steel wheels, while the LX wheels are aluminum. Both trims feature sliding doors on both sides of the vehicle, capless fuel fill, heated exterior mirrors, and remote keyless entry. Halogen headlamps, daytime running lights, headlamp off time delay, and incandescent stop/tail lamps are standard on both. However, automatic headlights are unique to the Voyager LX.

Exterior paint options are the same for both the L and LX, including black crystal pearl, jazz blue pearl, velvet red pearl, and granite.

 

Engines and Performance

Each of these Voyager models is equipped with a powerful 287-horsepower 3.6-liter V-6 engine that produces 262 pound-feet of torque. The engine includes stop-start technology and is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard on both the L and LX.

Four-wheel anti-lock brakes, rainy day braking, and ready-alert braking are standard on both models. The L sports a normal-duty suspension, while the LX is built with a touring suspension for a smoother ride.

The L and LX have a 19-gallon gas tank and EPA-rated fuel efficiency of 19 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. Properly equipped, each model offers a maximum towing capacity of 3,600 pounds.

 

Safety Features

Standard safety features on the L and LX include advanced multistage air bags, electronic stability control, hill start assist, LATCH, and a rearview camera. The LX offers several optional features that are not available on the L, including blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-path detection, ParkSense rear park assist with stop, and a security alarm.
