As the weather warms up, it's time to venture outside again. If you're looking for a new park to explore, check out these beautiful locations near Sallisaw. Bushy Lake Park Brushy Lake Park is in the Cookson Hills of eastern Oklahoma. It's owned by the city of Sallisaw and is located on Highway 17 eight miles north of the city. With areas for fishing and boating, the park allows visitors to escape their daily lives and enjoy a scenic, quiet retreat. Pack a picnic and take advantage of one of the eight pavilions. Do you want to spend a weekend in the woods? Rent one of the 23 camping sites at the park. All sites are concrete, and some are also set up for RV camping. The park also has hot water service and showers for campers to use. more Sallisaw Pool and Redwood Park Are you looking for a pool in a beautiful park where you can spend the day? The Sallisaw Pool in Redwood Park is at the northeast corner of Redwood and Elm Streets. In the summer, the pool is open Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m, Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. On holidays, the pool is open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. In the park, there are a variety of playgrounds for children to enjoy. There is also a tennis court and a softball field for your next pickup game against friends or family. There's no better way to spend an afternoon. Jay Reynolds Park Located at the corner of E. Iola Ave. and S. Opdyke St. in South Sallisaw, Jay Reynolds Park has playground equipment for children to enjoy. Adults looking for some entertainment with a competitive edge will enjoy the challenging 18 hole disc golf course, which is open during daylight hours. The course, which is flat and has grass tees and foliage scattered throughout, measures a total of 5,204 feet. If you are waiting for your turn on the course, take a walk along the trail. Distance walkers and runners take note: one-and-a-half laps on the trail equals one mile. The park also has restrooms and a picnic shelter for family or group gatherings. Alex Denton Park Alex Denton Park is located at the corner of Oak and Delaware Streets. This park is designed with the kids in mind. Young children will enjoy a variety of playground equipment, while older children and adults will enjoy a game of basketball on the courts. Bring your ball and some water, so you can cool off after the game. As the weather gets warmer, you may find yourself itching to get outside. Taking a trip to any of these parks is a great way to clear your mind. You can also bring your friends and family to enjoy the fresh air and explore these parks with you. This also comes with hash browns and your choice of toast or a biscuit and gravy.
