If you love spending time outdoors, you will love exploring the many biking and hiking trails around Sallisaw. Many of the beautiful parks in Oklahoma feature breathtaking lakeside views and offer a relaxing atmosphere and many other fun activities to create long-lasting memories. Here are five of our favorite spots in and around town where you can get good use out of your hiking poles and mountain bikes.
1. Lakeview Loop Trail at Brushy Lake Park
Brushy Lake Park is home to the Lakeview Loop Trail, which is approximately one mile in length. This moderately trafficked loop wraps around Brushy Creek Reservoir and offers gorgeous views for both hikers and bikers. The elevation gain is only 59 feet, making this is an excellent option for all skill levels. Dogs are also welcome, so if you want to bring Fido along on your hike, you can!
2. Five Trails at Greenleaf State Park
Nestled right next to Greenleaf Creek, Greenleaf State Park features multiple nature trails where you can hike and bike the day away. Five distinct pathways offer incredible views for all experience levels. The Greenleaf to Dam trail and Family Fun Trail takes about 40 minutes to trek and are great for beginners.
Experienced hikers will love the Full Loop trail, which features 18 miles of gorgeous scenery, including a swinging bridge. This trail also breaks off into a lower and middle segment, which you can explore if you don’t want to complete the entire loop.
3. Nine Trails at Robbers Cave State Park
The Robber’s Cave Trail is another easy path that leads to a cave that once was the hideout of famous outlaws. If you’re looking for more of a challenge, you can take the seven-mile Mountain Trail to Lake Carlton and Lake Wayne Wallace to enjoy unprecedented views.
4. Lighthoreseman Trail Lake Wister State Park
5. Arrowhead State Park Trail at Lake Eufaula State Park
