2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L

The latest Grand Cherokee L is available in five trims. The base Laredo comes standard with 18-inch wheels, all-season tires, and LED headlights. Next up is the Altitude with remote start, a power liftgate, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and 20-inch wheels. The Limited sports LED fog lights and automatic high-beam headlights. Available packages for the Limited include the Black Appearance package, which adds 20-inch wheels and gloss-black exterior accents, and the Luxury Tech Group II package, which adds luxury features such as a surround-view parking camera system.

The Overland has a panoramic sunroof, a hands-free power liftgate, an adaptive air suspension, and 20-inch wheels. Following that is the Summit, with its quality interior upgrades and a limited-slip differential. Finally, at the top is the Summit Reserve, the four-wheel-drive-only model with more upgraded features and 21-inch wheels.

This midsize SUV has two engine options: the base 3.6-lite V-6 that produces 290 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque or the 5.7-liter V-8 that gets 357 horsepower a healthy 390 pound-feet of torque. Both engines pair with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The base option comes standard with rear-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is available, however, and standard on the V-8. The Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve trims are available with advanced four-wheel-drive systems.

For its size, the Grand Cherokee L is a great off-roading vehicle. In true Jeep style, the four-wheel-drive options work well off the track, especially with the optional air suspension, which adjusts to give additional ground clearance. On the road, the SUV's smooth ride is super comfortable and relaxing. The vehicle's handling is competent, with nicely weighted steering and a firm brake pedal. Body roll is minimal around corners. The long wheelbase and optional air suspension absorb the bumps in the road. The Grand Cherokee L offers strong towing capabilities. The V-8 engine tows 7,200 pounds and the V-6 trims have a 6,200-pound tow rating.

Drivers and passengers alike can enjoy plenty of space and comfort in the Grand Cherokee L. A practical tilt-and-slide second row provides easy access to the seats in the third row. You'll find 17.2 cubic feet of space behind the third row, 46.9 cubic feet with the third row folded flat, and 84.6 cubic feet with both rows folded.

The latest infotainment system, Uconnect 5, provides the best in information technology. While the base trim is nothing to scoff at, the upper Summit and Overland trims provide additional luxuries, including quilted leather upholstery, massaging front seats, and wood trim.

The 2023 Grand Cherokee L carries a host of Jeep's newer standard driver-assistance safety features.
