2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee

For the 2023 model year, Jeep removed the Trailhawk model from the gasoline-powered lineup and gave it a plug-in hybrid powertrain. As a result, the Grand Cherokee is now offered in six trims: Laredo, Altitude, Limited, Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve. Its rugged exterior changes slightly depending on the trim. For instance, the Overland trim has chrome tow hooks, and the Summit has a black contrast roof.

You can choose between two powertrain options on the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and both provide sufficient power wherever you need to go. Most trims have the standard 3.6-liter engine that gets 293 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The more muscular 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 engine cranks out 357 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard on all models except for the Summit Reserve, which comes standard with four-wheel drive. Otherwise, four-wheel drive is available on the other trims.

The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee achieves decent fuel economy. Expect to get an EPA-estimated 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway with the base engine, while the V-8 attains 14 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway. Jeep vehicles are known for their off-roading capabilities, and the Grand Cherokee is no exception. It has two available four-wheel-drive systems as well as a Selec-Terrain system and air suspension. Also, when properly equipped, the SUV has a maximum towing capacity of 7,200 pounds.

Few vehicles in the Grand Cherokee's class match its premium and modern feel. Two rows of seats sit five people comfortably and the three-row option seats six. Every trim except the base one features leather upholstery. Upper trims have additional amenities such as massaging seats and four-zone automatic climate control. The second row boasts more space than many of its competitors, so you can stretch your legs during those long drives.

Another noteworthy aspect of the Grand Cherokee involves its UConnect 5 infotainment system. Its intuitive standard 8.4-inch or optional 10.1-inch touch-screen display has sharp graphics and responds quickly to your commands. A novel addition involves a separate passenger-side touch screen, which lets the passenger operate infotainment functions via their own display. A few of the other standard features include a Wi-Fi hot spot, several USB ports, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. If you want more features, add HD and satellite radio, navigation, wireless device charging, and a rear-seat entertainment system.

Every 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee has almost a dozen standard driver-assistance safety features. Some of these features include rear parking sensors, stop-and-go adaptive cruise control, forward-automatic emergency braking, and blind-spot monitoring. The SUV has almost as many available safety upgrades as standard ones, and some of these add-ons include a surround-view parking camera system, traffic sign recognition, and night-vision assist.
